JULIE GROVE

Julie is a registered psychologist, who graduated from the University of Western Australia before moving to Sydney in the early 90’s. Since then she has worked in a clinical capacity with First Nations communities, with adolescents in community health, and in drug and alcohol services. She has delivered clinical training to a range of organisations including TAFE NSW, Department of Health, the University of Southern QLD, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Westpac Bank. For 15 years she worked in student counselling both at the University of Sydney and at the University of New South Wales. Julie now works solely in private practice; seeing clients, providing bespoke training and offering supervision for psychologists individually and in teams.
Julie has 30 years' experience working with adults and adolescents across a range of issues; depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, drug dependency and coping with loss and adjustment. She provides evidence-based treatment, which means therapy that is informed by science and has been shown to be effective in research studies. She predominantly practices a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT (said as one word) and has trained extensively both in Australia and overseas using this model. Julie is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a Board Approved Supervisor. She was a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for 30 years and past Secretary of the APS Special Interest Group for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She is a current member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi), and is a past President of the Australian and New Zealand chapter of the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science (ANZ ACBS), whose Board she has served on twice. She is eligible to provide Medicare services.
